Lasdoplus tours safari ltd is a group of experienced, enthusiastic tour guides from all over Tanzania who came together in 2009 to work towards a common goal: to offer unique, enjoyable and unforgettable experiences to our visitors by sharing the beauty of our country and its authentic, traditional culture, all the while ensuring our activities truly benefit the future of the local people in a sustainable and clearly visible way.

“Before we united as Big tour company, we worked individually for different tour companies and organizations around Tanzania, so together we have a great range of experience. As a Tanzanian and a professional tour guide, it is my aim to make the most of this knowledge and experience, and to source additional skills where necessary, so we can deliver more personal and authentic tours that allow visitors and guides to learn and enjoy together through culture and nature.

We are also very proud to be able to provide unique, personal tours and experiences, giving you the opportunity to experience whatever you would like during your stay in the area. For example, maybe you wish to design your own trek or tour? Or visit specific villages, places or people such as local schools and orphanages, perhaps even providing activities for the local children? No matter what your wishes, we will make every effort to bring them to life for you.

Usambara Mountains

Explore the Usambara Mountains on the northeastern of Tanzania. Landscape, tropical forests and numerous spectacular viewpoints, historical sites, learn and know how we live in the Usambara Mountains, the community history of the indigenous washambaa, and the immigrant local tribe of pare and mbugu, local royality from the ancient to the Germany and British colonial era. Usambara Mountains are a beautiful series of mountain ranges between Moshi (Mount Kilimanjaro region) and Tanga region in the east. Usambara Mountains are home to an unspoiled tropical forest that is rare in East Africa and of great ecological interest. The valuable ecology of the Usambara is seeking increasing protection by conservation organizations and some donor countries like Norway. The tropical forests are home to endemic bird species including the Naduk eagle owl (Bubo vosseleri), the Usambara Akalat (Sheppardia montana), Amani sunbird, green-headed oriole, southern banded snake eagle and the Usambara weaver (Ploceus nicolli). Forest in Usambara Mountains is species that are endemic to the Usambara Mountains include the tree Calodendrum eickii.In addition to learning about the conservation needs of this mountain range and doing some spectacular birding, there are ample opportunities for hiking with stunning viewpoints over the forested mountains. The surrounding region was among the first to be settled in East Africa in 1902 by European farmers, especially German farmers. The nearby town of Amani was a popular German resort for many years in colonial times. Much of the mountain areas are used in the production of coffee, sisal, tea and some species of rice grown in the swampy foothills. The East Usambara Mountains are home to over 30 species of reptiles found nowhere else, 50 tree species and is home to the largest number of species of African Violets

Hiking in usambara

Lushoto is situated in the West Usambara Mountains in the North- east part of Tanzania,During colonial time Lushoto and the Usambara mountains was popular due to their pleasant climate as a holiday resort. Through German influence Lushoto was named “Wilhemstahl” as a result of the German rule at the beginning of the 19th Century large coffee and tea plantations have been cultivated in the southern part of the Mountains and this coffee and tea can be witnessed around the mountains to date. In East Usambara which situated in Muheza Amani forest reserve a botanical garden has been established in 1902 and It is Still one of the Largest and oldest botanical gardens in Africa. The Usambara rain forest is listed as one of the world’s biodiversity hot spots and a haven for plants life. They are also recognized as among the most valuable conservation areas in Africa. The fertile terrain is great for broad agricultural activity vegetables, grapes and many other tropical fruits find an ideal growth here. Many German further more produce domestic products such as cheese, jam, wine, Brown bread and honey.
