All of this trekking will take you to explore the Usambara Mountains in the northeastern of Tanzania. Landscape, tropical forests and numerous spectacular viewpoints, historical sites and the opportunity to visit local communities development projects, a thorough explanation of the history and life of the local farmers provide a memorable experience.

For shorter stays in the area, we recommend a combination hike to the Irente Viewpoint and Magamba Rainforest, where you can see Colobus monkeys, Usambara twohorned chameleon.

The hike starts right from Lushoto town 9:00 am through small villages, nice landscapes, farming areas and the Magamba-Shume Nature Reserve which is host to huge biodiversity. Visit an old cave used as a hide out by the Germans during the First World War. Continue climbing up to the peak of Magamba Rainforest at 1850m above sea level and then descend down to the Irente Biodiversity Reserve for the picnic lunch.

Thereafter walk to the famous and spectacular Irente view point, enjoy the breathtaking view over the Maasai plains!

Finally we walk back to town passing several other villages and get in touch with local people on the way.
